Joshua Stern is a Professor of Veterinary Cardiology at the
University of California Davis and serves as the Associate Dean for Veterinary
Medical Center Operations. He is originally from Ohio and completed his
veterinary school and rotating internship at The Ohio State University.
He then completed a residency in interventional and medical cardiology at North
Carolina State University and earned his PhD studying cardiac genetics through
Washington State University. He operates an active cardiac genetics and
pharmacogenomics laboratory where he studies novel drug therapies for common
cardiac diseases such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy
and subvalvular aortic stenosis. He leads a translational research team
of clinician scientists in training and is the author of more than 100
peer-reviewed publications. This year he served as the Chair of the
Morris Animal Foundation's Canine and Feline Scientific Advisory Boards.
Additionally, he serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Veterinary
Internal Medicine.
