This 5-day course will provide comprehensive coverage of canine and feline arrhythmias, from electrophysiological mechanisms to advanced ECG interpretation and treatment. It includes didactic lectures, interactive sessions and more than 5 hours of hands-on ECG interpretation with additional time for questions and individual attention.

The main topics covered:

• Correlation between cardiac physiology and arrhythmias

• Advanced interpretation of the 12-lead ECG and the 24-hour Holter

• The diagnosis and management of supraventricular and ventricular tachyarrhythmias

• The diagnosis and management of bradyarrhythmias, including pacemaker therapy

This course is designed for cardiology residents, veterinary cardiologists, and non-specialists with a strong interest in cardiology and some experience in ECG interpretation.

Roberto Santilli graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Milan in 1990. He became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine - Companion Animals (Specialty of Cardiology) in 1999. Between 2004 and 2006, he completed a Master in Electrophysiology and electrical stimulation at the University of Medicine of Insubria. He then obtained a PhD at the University of Turin – College of Veterinary Internal medicine in 2010 completing a research on diagnosis and treatment of supraventricular tachycardias in the dog. Roberto Santilli is the head of the cardiology departments of the Clinica Veterinaria Malpensa, Anicura in Samarate, Varese (Italy). Since 2014, he has been an Adjunct Professor of Cardiology at the Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, where he is actively involved in the activities of the cardiac electrophysiologic laboratory. He’s author of 68 publications on peer-reviewed journals on arrhythmias’ topic and co-author of the book: Electrocardiography of the dog and cat”, now translated into 6 languages. His main research activities include the diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias in dogs and cats.

Laureata in Medicina Veterinaria presso la Facoltà di Medicina Veterinaria dell’Università degli Studi di Milano nel 1994, svolge la propria attività come freelance in cardiologia nella zona di Brescia, Bergamo e Cremona. Collabora dal 2000 con il Dott. Roberto Santilli presso la “Clinica Veterinaria Malpensa” (Samarate – VA) per la stesura di articoli scientifici, corsi e lavori inerenti al servizio di telemedicina di ecgontheweb.com. Il suo interesse principale è l’aritmologia, svolgendo lavori di ricerca in particolare sulla tachicardia giunzionale automatica e la conduzione ventricolo-atriale nel cane. Autrice di diverse pubblicazioni su riviste nazionali e internazionali ha partecipato come relatore a corsi e seminari del GACVI (Gruppo di aritmologia e cardiostimolazione veterinario italiano), della SCIVAC, della UNISVET, di diversi Ordini Professionali e della Clinica Veterinaria S.Antonio di Salò. Ha collaborato alla stesura dei testi: “Elettrocardiografia del cane e del gatto. Genesi ed interpretazione del ritmo cardiaco” (2009), “Manuale di cardiologia del cane e del gatto” (2012) editi da Elsevier e alla traduzione del testo “Electrocardiography of the dog and cat – Diagnosis of arrhythmias” (2018) ed. Edra, “Elettrocardiografia del cane e del gatto “(2020) ed. Edra, e dei DVD “Elettrocardiografia del cane e del gatto” (2014) ed. Boehringer Ingelheim. Nel 2019 ha conseguito la Certificazione Europea di competenza in ecocardiografia veterinaria.

Lola Porteiro

Dolores Porteiro graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine of Santiago de Compostela in 2005. Between 2005 and 2011, she collaborated with different Clinics in Madrid (Spain). She completed a cardiology intership from February 2012 to July 2013 with Doctor Claudio Bussadori and Doctor Roberto Santilli (Italy). She started her Residency program in Cardiology with Doctor Santilli (ECVIM-CA Cardiology) in August 2013. She finished her residency program in 2016 and she is working as cardiology in Clinica Veterinaria Malpensa (Varese, Italy), Hospital Veterinario VETSIA (Madrid, Spain) and Hospital 4 de Octubre (A Coruña, Spain). She has published in different national and international journals. Also she has presented scientific articles in national and international congress. Her main research activities include the arrhythmology.

Manuela Perego

Manuela Perego si è laureata presso l’Università di Milano nel 2003. Nel 2003 ha iniziato una collaborazione presso la Clinica Veterinaria Malpensa - Anicura (Samarate-VA) e nel 2012 presso l’Ospedale I Portoni Rossi - Anicura (Zola Predosa-BO) occupandosi di ecocardiografia, aritmologia e di procedure di cardiologia interventistica. Nell’anno 2019 ha ottenuto il Diploma Europeo di Medicina Interna Specialità di Cardiologia. È autrice di articoli inerenti la cardiologia e l’aritmologia su riviste italiane e internazionali, del libro Elettrocardiografia del cane e del gatto (2009, Elsevier-2018 Edra) e co-autrice del libro Manuale di Cardiologia del cane e del gatto (2012, Elsevier). È stata relatrice a diversi Congressi Italiani e Internazionali.

Romain Pariaut
DVM, Dipl. ACVIM (Cardiology), Dipl. ECVIM-CA (Cardiology) Relatore
Romain Pariaut has been practicing veterinary cardiology since 2002. He received his DVM from the National School of Veterinary Medicine (ENVL) in Lyon, France. He stayed in Lyon as a small animal rotating Intern, and was then a Clinical Instructor in Emergency and Critical Care. He completed a residency in Veterinary Cardiology at Cornell University in 2005. Prior to joining the faculty at Cornell University, Dr. Pariaut was an Associate Professor and Service Chief of Cardiology at Louisiana State University. His emphasis is on interventional cardiology and arrhythmia management. Dr. Pariaut is also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Veterinary Cardiology. He is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) and the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ECVIM-CA).

Sydney Moise
DVM, Dipl. ACVIM (Internal Medicine), Dipl. ACVIM (Cardiology) Relatore
Dr. Moise is involved in teaching, clinical practice, and research. Her research has centered on arrhythmias in dogs. Currently, her research is directed toward the normal and abnormal patterning of cardiac rhythms during long-term Holter analysis. She also has orchestrated collaborative studies to understand the mechanisms of degeneration of the mitral valve in dogs. She was awarded the AVMA research award for arrhythmia studies in German shepherds and the Bourgelat Award for international contribution to the clinical practice of veterinary medicine. Dr. Moïse was Editor-in Chief (5 years) and Associate Editor (2 years) of the international Journal of Veterinary Cardiology. Previously, she co-edited and authored with Dr. Philip Fox and David Sisson the textbook Canine and Feline Cardiology. In 2018 the textbook Electrocardiography of the Dog and Cat authored by Drs. Roberto Santilli, N. Sydney Moise, Romain Pariaut and Manuela Perego. She is currently working on her book Heartbeats…Over Time (Long-term Electrocardiographic Monitoring in the Dog and Cat) him him. She is extensively involved in the international aspects of academic veterinary cardiology including speaking and training.
