Manuel Boller

Dr Manu Boller is an experienced veterinary Emergency and Critical Care specialist, educator, and clinical researcher. He is an internationally recognized expert in small animal resuscitation, prolific international speaker and author of numerous research publications and book chapters. He is co-chair and founding member of the RECOVER initiative which generated the first evidence-based CPR guidelines that are now widely accepted as the global standard in small animal CPR. Manu graduated from veterinary school at the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 1997. He practiced both large and small animal medicine in private practice followed by completing a doctoral thesis and a veterinary anesthesia residency at the University of Zurich in 2002 and a residency in veterinary ECC at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA in 2005. Next to his clinical work at PennVet, he worked several years at the Centre for Resuscitation Science at Penn, working with doctors, veterinarians, and engineers to improve our approach to cardiopulmonary resuscitation. During this period, he also completed a Masters in Translational Research at Penn’s Perelman School of Medicine, studying microcirculatory dysfunction occurring after resuscitation from cardiac arrest. In 2012, Manu relocated with his family to Australia where he has worked as a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor in veterinary Emergency and Critical Care at the University of Melbourne until 2021. Manu moved with his family and the wonderful rescue terrier Pip to Vancouver Island, Canada in July 2021 where he is critical care specialist in a VCA Canada regional veterinary referral hospital.
