Diagnostic imaging modalities such as radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and nuclear scintigraphy have important roles such as screening, diagnosing, staging, prognosing, treatment (i.e. surgical or radiation therapy planning), monitoring response to treatment and for specific research development of neoplasia in small animals. The choice of imaging modality depends on many factors, including the availability of the imaging modality, expertise, cost, purpose, and desired outcome. In these Masterclass series, we will be discussing the use of different imaging modalities in helping clinicians to diagnose common types of neoplasia of the liver, splenic, urinary tract, and gastrointestinal neoplasia, as well as their limitations. Some useful and practical tips will also be shared to help clinicians to confidently recognize aggressive bone lesions, and to be able to differentiate between bone neoplasia or osteomyelitis.
